Wriggle.io Tips: When to Boost and How to Keep Your Worm Alive
Learn the tradeoff between speed and length in PlayKovo's worm arena, including safer food routes and why chasing every dropped sprinkle is risky.
Boost spends some of your worm’s length to make it move faster. Hold it whenever food appears and you can lose size while steering into danger. Use it for a move you can finish: crossing an opening, moving out of another worm’s path or placing your body across a rival’s route.
Choose the exit before pressing boost
Suppose two worms are approaching the same open space. A short burst may get your head through before their bodies close it. The important question is where you will steer afterward. If the far side ends at the table edge, getting through first has not solved the problem. Release boost while you still have room to turn.
On desktop, steer with the mouse and hold left click or Space to boost. On a phone, use the joystick and BOOST button in landscape. Practice accelerating and releasing in open space first; the distance covered during a burst is harder to judge when another body is already beside your head.
A long worm needs a clear path for its head
Length gives you more body for opponents to crash into, but your head still loses on contact with another worm’s body. Look ahead of that head rather than at the impressive curve behind it. A narrow gap that was open when you started turning may close before you reach it.
Near the table edge, turn inward early. Boosting along the boundary leaves less time to react when another worm blocks the route. Food farther from the edge gives you more choices about where to turn next.
Take the outside of a dropped-food pile
A defeated worm drops its sprinkles. Several worms can converge on the same pile, so crossing the center may put your head directly into a moving body. Collect the pieces on the outside along a route you can leave. If another worm takes the middle first, let it have that part instead of turning back across its path.
Three common losses, three different fixes
- You hit a body during a burst: choose a shorter burst and release before the next turn.
- You ran into the table edge: begin turning while there is still open table ahead.
- You died chasing dropped sprinkles: approach the next pile from its outside and leave through the same open area.
The table includes bots, so a full arena does not mean every rival is human. The collision rules still give you a useful practice target: make one run where you spend boost only when you can point to the opening it will get you through.
Before stepping away
Esc opens the menu without pausing. Finish the run before leaving the tab. If you want growth without protecting a long body next time, Gulp.io makes size itself the rule: swallow objects that fit and stay clear of holes bigger than yours.
