Tank, Helicopter and Drone Games: Free Browser War Games Worth Playing
Tank campaigns, a base-defense battle, a combat drone and an anti-aircraft turret. Eight war-themed browser games, what each one asks you to do and how it controls.
War games in the browser are mostly small and specific: one vehicle, one mechanic, a few levels. That is a strength if you want a quick session. Below are eight free ones sorted by what you control, with the keys for each so you can tell in advance whether it suits you.
Tanks first
Tanks: Final Battle
Short tank campaign with upgrades, airstrikes, repair kits, varied landscapes and a boss.
Play →World of WarTanks
Tank warfare with base defense missions and 5v5 battles, plus new tanks to buy and upgrade.
Play →Brawl Tanks 505
Team tank base battles: demolish the enemy base, defend yours, use abilities and unlock new tanks.
Play →Tank Struggle
Two-player tank duel with power-ups and an adjustable match length from 1 to 99.
Play →Four very different tank games
- Tanks: Final Battle is a short campaign with tank upgrades, airstrikes, repair kits, different landscapes and a boss. On PC, A and D move, W and S change the gun angle, 1 calls an airstrike, 2 a repair kit, and Space or the left mouse button shoots.
- World of WarTanks mixes base defense missions with 5v5 battles. You fire when the red circle appears in your sight, and you can buy and upgrade new tanks. WASD to move, left-click to fire, right-click to zoom.
- Brawl Tanks 505 is a team base battle: destroy the enemy base, defend yours and use a special ability on the right mouse button. New tanks unlock as you play.
- Tank Struggle is a two-player duel with power-ups and a match length you set from 1 to 99. Player one uses W, A, S, D with G, player two uses the arrow keys with K.
Air and special forces
FPV War Drone Simulator
Fly first-person combat drones and destroy tanks and helicopters while dodging jammers and turrets.
Play →Turret Gunner: Air Raid
Man a turret with guns, rockets and a howitzer against waves of aircraft.
Play →Helicopter Simulator: Destruction
Fly a helicopter over a city, wreck it, earn diamonds for upgrades and return to the helipad.
Play →Counter-Terror: Global Strike
First-person shooter with special forces missions, well-known maps and a full arsenal from pistols to sniper rifles.
Play →Drones, turrets and helicopters
FPV War Drone Simulator puts you in a first-person combat drone against tanks and helicopters, with jammers and turrets to avoid. WASD adjusts altitude and rotation, the arrow keys tilt and E releases a bomb. Turret Gunner: Air Raid is the opposite approach: you stay in one place, aim with the mouse or A and D, and switch between guns, rockets and a howitzer against waves of aircraft.
Helicopter Simulator: Destruction has you fly over a city, wreck it, earn diamonds for upgrades and return to the helipad to finish each level. Counter-Terror: Global Strike is a first-person shooter with special forces missions and weapons from pistols to sniper rifles; you pick the difficulty in settings.
How to choose
- Want progression and a finish line: Tanks: Final Battle or Helicopter Simulator: Destruction.
- Want to play with a friend on one keyboard: Tank Struggle.
- Want a precise aiming challenge: FPV War Drone Simulator.
- Want to stand still and shoot: Turret Gunner: Air Raid.
- Want a first-person shooter: Counter-Terror: Global Strike.
Most of these are landscape games, so on a phone turn the screen sideways before you start. The action category has more shooters and battle games if you want something beyond war themes.
