Where to Publish Your HTML5 Games: A Realistic List of Platforms
Every portal that will actually take an HTML5 submission in 2026, what each one is good for, and an honest read on where PlayKovo fits in that list.
If you've just finished an HTML5 build, the honest answer is: submit it to more than one place. Almost none of the portals below ask for exclusivity, and distribution is how you find out where your specific game actually performs — genre, art style, and difficulty all land differently depending on the audience a portal has built.
The established portals
- CrazyGames — large catalog, general audience, one of the higher-traffic destinations for casual and hypercasual HTML5 titles.
- Poki — similar scale to CrazyGames, strong on mobile-web traffic, selective review for quality and load performance.
- itch.io — not a curated portal so much as an open marketplace. No traffic guarantees, but zero gatekeeping and full control over pricing, pages, and updates.
- Y8 — one of the older browser game sites still active, broad catalog, less strict review than newer portals.
- Newgrounds / Armor Games — long-running community sites, smaller mainstream traffic than the portals above but loyal, engaged audiences that skew toward indie and experimental work.
- GameDistribution / GameMonetize — not consumer-facing portals themselves, but syndication networks: submit once and your game gets picked up by dozens of smaller third-party sites. Revenue per site is small; the appeal is reach without individual submissions.
Where PlayKovo actually fits
We're not going to pretend otherwise: PlayKovo's catalog is a fraction the size of CrazyGames or Poki's — they've been at this for years and list in the tens of thousands of games; we're a much newer, much smaller platform. If you're choosing one portal to bet on for traffic today, the bigger names above will get you more plays.
What we'd actually say for yourself: submitting to PlayKovo costs nothing and takes a build or a playable URL, same as everywhere else on this list — so there's no real reason not to add it to the rotation alongside bigger portals rather than instead of them. Our audience currently skews heavily Turkey-first, which can matter if that's a region other portals under-serve for your genre. Review is manual, turnaround is fast because the queue is small, and every accepted game gets the same SDK for ads regardless of catalog size.
How to actually pick where to submit
- Check what genres a portal already features prominently — a portal full of io-games isn't going to feature your narrative platformer on the homepage.
- Read the ad/revenue terms before you submit, not after — split percentages and payout thresholds vary a lot between portals.
- Prefer portals that let you submit a live URL over ones that force a static ZIP upload, if you plan to keep patching the game after launch.
- Track performance separately per portal. A game that flops on one site can still do well on another with a different audience — you won't know until you compare.
See PlayKovo's own technical requirements and review process in the submission rules before you send a build.
